In May of 2008 I was diagnosed by my medical doctor with lupus.  My joints were stiff and achy, my fatigue was severe and my skin had a constant irritated sunburn appearance and was very itchy.  The treatment recommended by my doctor was steroids and anti-inflammatory drugs.  I was aware of the terrible side effects these medicines cause so I wanted to avoid taking them.
